A New Perspective
As I mentioned at the beginning of the Benny adventure, I was a late bloomer. I started stitching Bennies when I was well into my fifties and enjoyed that process for five years. Eventually, though, I felt I had explored all the Benny avenues I needed to or wanted to. I made a few more embroideries, at that point focusing on my political views. And then Benny was complete.
Since then, I have explored many other textile paths, including knitting, cross-stitch, weaving, and now quilting. I took pictures of most of my projects because I like to record and remember the process of putting things together. In the meantime, CatStitchStudio.com languished. I didn't even look at it for years, and when the website renewal reminder came, I considered (for about a nano-second) letting go of it. But I couldn't POSSIBLY discard all the effort I had put into creating the website that celebrated my Bennies! Recently it occurred to me that I could use it as a venue for ALL my creative activities. It satisfies my organizationally-oriented heart to finally put everything in one place and to talk about the various aspects of my journey. It may be that I'm the only one who will ever read these pages, and that's okay with me. I consider this as kind of a journal, which I'm putting together for myself. But if you want to read it too, you're more than welcome to do so. Maybe it will even provide inspiration for your own artistic journey.
So...the following pages contain my ventures into knitting, cross-stitching, weaving, sewing face masks, and quilting. And who knows what else may pop up? As much as I love organizing, that doesn't include making five-year plans for my life. I much prefer to follow my nose and see where it takes me.
